“Encrypted Memory Beneath the Skin” is a feature documentary that begins with a family myth about a black ancestor in the family. The film follows Julia’s genealogical research, and how the more she delves into her family history, the more she realizes the many traversals of a racist society and the processes of historical erasure and whitening that her and so many other Brazilian families have gone through.

Searching for a house in Mooca

Imagine one day you find out that a house in the neighborhood you have frequented since you were a child, perhaps on the street where your grandmother lived, perhaps your neighbor's house, was a clandestine detention and torture center used by the military dictatorship. This is a true-crime Brazilian horror story.
